Preserving the Historic Wallpaper for the Future
This week, volunteers started the careful work needed to preserve the wallpaper from the Inn. Only one room in the Inn had wallpaper and there were three layers. The gray layer was the first wallpaper and since it covered a plastered wall with no paint, we believe this paper was put up when the Inn was built in 1866. The most current layer is the tan “horse and carriage” scene paper.
The volunteers are cutting the paper into 8×11 pieces which we will laminate for the back of our menus.
