Fabulous Vintage Furniture Donations

The response to our request for 1928 era furniture donations has been tremendous, thank you to everyone who have reached out with your treasure you want to see re-homed in Sleeping Bear Inn! This fabulous couch was donated by Mary from Chimney Corners Resort on Crystal Lake and coordinated by our terrific volunteers Bob (pictured) and Barb. This vintage gem is perfect for Sleeping Bear Inn’s parlor and almost matches the original front door color perfectly! Volunteer Patty C. has been working diligently on stripping the paint from the front door of the Inn so we can repaint it Lemon Verbena, just as it was in 1866. We also have received so many lovely fine china dishes from folks and will be using these to serve our guests. Can you picture yourself relaxing in our parlor seated on this couch sipping something delicious from a fine china cup?

Over the past two weeks the garage and garage suites have been insulated and are ready for windows and drywall. The two 500 square foot apartments should be ready to house our BEAR team as we continue to work on the Inn in the next few months. We continue the meticulous work restoring the sunporch windows and the original 1866 windows that separate the porch from the parlor and dining room. It is humbling to work on the 1866 windows and front door that were originally installed just one year after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln!
