We have been so fortunate to have the help of volunteers to move forward our project. Typically you will find George, Jeff and me on site most everyday and on certain days you will find volunteer regulars like Steve and Steve. George (for those of you who haven’t met him yet is the project construction professional) refers to this dynamic duo as the “Special Ops Team” and today they are building storm windows for the porch. We especially realized the importance of storm windows during this past week of 50 mph gusts off Lake Michigan and seemingly relentless rain. We are preparing now for the eventual year round operation of Sleeping Bear Inn.
Another regular volunteer has been “The Window Doctor” Jeff, pictured below. He has been working diligently on restoring and reglazing the porch windows. He sure could use some help and if anyone is interested, we would love to hear from you!
Although there have been weather challenges this week, the tail end of the week is shaping up nicely and just in time as our roofing crew from Csiki Builders is on site and taking care of the very leaky covered porch roof. We look forward to a dry porch and an improved appearance to that roof.
Team Corvette
Last week, ten beautiful corvettes along with their drivers and passengers with Team Corvette from Genesee County Michigan visited the Inn on a color tour and this week we heard they pledged $250 for the renovation of the Inn. It was terrific to see old friends and we sure are grateful for their support!
